Since, $ABC$ is a straight line .

$\therefore$ $\angle ABC={180}^{\circ }$

$\angle ABD+(\angle DBC={180}^{\circ }$ [from figure]

$x+y={180}^{\circ }$

${53}^{\circ }+y={180}^{\circ }$

$y={180}^{\circ }-{53}^{\circ }$

$\therefore$ $y={127}^{\circ }$

Hence, if $x={53}^{\circ }$, then $y={127}^{\circ }$.
