In the first figure, The square is of the side = 1 cm + 7 cm = 8 cm

Area of the first square = 8×8=64 sq.units

It is cut and rearranged to get a bigger square as shown in the second figure with a square hole in the middle. The square is cut into four quadrilaterals of equal area.
