In the given figure, AB || CD. Find the measure of 𝑥, 𝑦 and 𝑧.

Solution
We know that co-interior angles are supplementary to each other.
Now from the figure, we can say that x and 140° form a pair of co-interior angles while z and 130° form a pair of co-interior angles.
Therefore,
x + 140° = 180°
x = 40° and
z + 130° = 180°
z = 50°
Now x, y and z together form linear angles, therefore
x + y + z = 180°
40° + y + 50° = 180°
y = 90°
