Using Pythagoras' theorem in right-angled triangle ABD, AB2=AD2+BD2. (i)Using it in ADC, we get AC2=AD2+DC2.AD2=AC2DC2=4232 =169 =7
Substituting this value of AD2 in (i), we get
AB2=7+52=7+25=32.
AB=32=42 units
