There are three pairs of similar triangles

(i) ΔAEBΔDEC

(ii) ΔABCΔEFC

(iii) ΔAEBΔDEC

AEEC=BEED=ABDC

But AB = 67.5 cm, DC = 40.5 cm and AE = 52.5 cm

52.5EC=67.540.5=EC×67.5=52.5×40.5

EC=52.5×40.567.5=31.5 cm
