Rhombus ABCD consist of △ADE, △CFB and rectangle AFCE.

Merging the shapes, we get:


So,
Length of converted rectangle = 8 ft
Width of converted rectangle = 2 ft

∴ Area of the red colored rectangle
= length×breadth
= 8 × 2 sq. ft
= 16 sq. ft

Area of the yellow colored rectangle
= length×breadth
= 6 × 8 sq. ft
= 48 sq. ft

So, total area of the figure is
= 16 sq. ft + 48 sq. ft
= 64 sq. ft
