The correct option is B 60°

Given: ∠BOA = 40°
∴ x = 40°
⇒ ∠COD = 3x = 3 × 40° = 120° …..(i)
Since BD is a straight line.
∴ ∠BOC + ∠COD = 180° (Linear pair)
⇒ ∠BOC = 180° – 120° [From (i)]
⇒ ∠BOC = 60°
Hence, the correct answer is option (b).
