area of parallelogram ABCD = base× height
= 12×6
= 72 cm2
If a triangle and a parallelogram are on the same base and between the same parallels, then the area of the triangle is equal to half the area of the parallelogram.

Area of BEC = 12 (Area of ABCD)

Now, BEC = 12× 72 cm 2

Area of BEC = 36 cm2
