A chord of a circle is a straight line segment whose both endpoints lie on the circle. The longest chord which passes through the centre of the circle is known as diameter.

The portion of a circle enclosed by two radii is known as the sector. The segments of a circle are the region bounded by a chord and the arc subtended by the chord.
