Solution

The correct option is C (a) 13:5 (b) 2:11 (c) 13:35
(a) Area of Africa =26 sq. units
Area of Europe =10 sq. units
Ratio of areas of Africa and Europe=Area of AfricaArea of Europe
=2610=135 or 13:5
Hence, area of Africa to Europe is in the ratio 13 : 5.
(b) Area of Australia = 8 sq. units
Area of Asia =44 sq. units
The required ratio=Area of AustraliaArea of Asia
=844=211 or 2:11
Hence, ratio of the area of Australia to Asia is 2 : 11.
(c) Area of Antarctica =13 sq. units
Area of North America =17 sq. units
Area of South America =18 sq. units
Combined area of North and South America
= 17 + 18 = 35 sq.units
The required ratio=Area of AntarcticaCombined area of North and South America
=1335 or 13:35
Hence, ratio of area of Antarctica to combined area of North and South America is 13 : 35.
