In the given figure, ABC is traingle such that ABAC=BDDC, B = 70, C = 50. Find BAD.

Solution

If a line through one vertex of a triangle divides the opposite side in the ratio of the other two sides, then the line bisects the angle at the vertex.

Therefore 1=2

So in ABC by triangle sum property:

1+2+ABC+ACB=180

21+ABC+ACB=180

Given: ABC=70,ACB=50

21+70+50=180

21=180120=60

1=BAD=30

So BAD=30
