In the given graph an ideal gas change its state from A to state C by two paths ABC and AC. If the work done in path ABC is 5k2 (in J). What is the value of k ?

Area under the P-V graph gives the work done by the gas during that process.

From graph, OD=155=10m3

Process AC :
WAC= Area of trapezium AODC =12×(AO+CD)×OD
WAC=12×(4+8)×10=60J

Process ABC :
WAB=0 (V=constant)

WBC=OD×OB=10×8=80J

WABC=0+80=80J

5k2=80

k=4
