In the Haber Process, nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas are taken in a ratio 1:3 by volume. Both nitrogen and hydrogen gas are combined at very high pressure and temperature in the presence of spongy iron which acts as a catalyst to produce ammonia. The reaction of nitrogen with hydrogen in the Haber process is as follows.

N2(g)+3H2(g)2NH3(g)
