Solution

Compute the number of copies :

Let the copies of the same book is x.

Given: 136 copies of a certain book require a shelf length of 3.4 meters ,

Thus, one copy occupies the shelf length =3.4136.

We know that x copies occupy shelf length of 5.1 meters.

Thus we can write, 3.4136x=5.1

3.4x=5.1(136)

3.4x=693.6

x=693.63.4

x=204

Hence, 204 copies of the same book would occupy a shelf length of5.1 meters
