In the modern periodic table, what remains same down the group?

Solution

Periodic table:

  1. In the modern periodic table, the elements are established on the increasing atomic numbers.
  2. The elements having an equal number of electrons in their valence shells are placed in vertical columns called groups.
  3. Hence, elements of each group or family have the same number of electrons in their outermost or valence shell.
  4. The number of valence electrons along the group remains the same.

Therefore, in the modern periodic table, the number of valence electrons remains the same down the group.
