Solution

Modern periodic table:

  1. The periodic table is a tabular arrangement of elements in groups and periods that emphasizes regular trends in element properties.
  2. Because their oxides and hydroxides are basic in nature, the elements of the group 1 are known as alkali metals. Their oxides and hydroxides dissolve in water and turn red litmus paper blue.
  3. Group 2 elements are called alkaline earth metals because their oxides remain inside the crust of the earth and are very stable.
  4. Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Fluorine, and Neon are the first 10 elements of the periodic table.
  5. Among them, only Lithium and Beryllium are metals rest are non-metals.

Therefore, only lithium and beryllium are two metals among the first ten elements of the periodic table.
