The ray PM can be drawn at any angle to the line segment PQ other than angles $0^{\circ }$ and ${180}^{\circ }$.
If the ray PM is drawn at an obtuse angle to PQ, $\angle P{P}_4{Q}^{\prime }$ and $\angle P{P}_{5}Q$ become so small and makes the constructions difficult. So we generally draw the ray at an acute angle.
When the ray is drawn at angles $0^{\circ }$ and ${180}^{\circ }$ to PQ, there will be no triangle formed with the points on ray PM and segment PQ. So while dividing a segment in a given ratio, we can not draw the ray at angles $0^{\circ }$ and ${180}^{\circ }$.
