1. In the process of respiration, alveoli provide the surface within the lungs for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide from blood during the process of breathing in and breathing out.
2. Alveoli are tiny air sacs present in the lungs which appear like a bunch of grapes. These are also known as pulmonary alveoli.
3. They mainly promote the exchange of gases.
