Solution

In the reaction:
NH4COONH4(s)2NH3(g)+CO2(g)
Equilibrium pressure for this reaction is 3 atm. The value of Kp will be 4.

From the reaction stoichiometry,
PNH3=2PCO2
Ptotal=PNH3+PCO2

Substitute PNH3=2PCO2 in above equation.
Ptotal=2PCO2+PCO2
Ptotal=3PCO2=3 atm
PCO2=1 atm
PNH3=2PCO2=2(1)=2 atm

KP=P2NH3×PCO2
KP=22×1=4
