Question

In the reactivity series,do metals below hydrogen also react with acids to form salts and evolve hydrogen

Open in App
Solution

All metals do not react with acids to evolve hydrogen gas . Only those metals react which is more reactive than hydrogen . When metal reacts with acid it forms a salt which is basic in nature and releases hydrogen gas.
. Most metals react with acids, but not all. The general equation that describes the chemical reaction between an acid and metal is metal + acid = salt + hydrogen gas.
