Dear Student,
a. It is to be noted that India certainly produces high quality yarn which in fact accounts for 1/4th of the total World trade
b. Our spinning mills are also of high quality standards to match the international level.
c. However, Indian Weaver's knitters and processors are not in a position to use such high quality yarn to be able to convert it into fabric.
d. This is because, our native weaving sector is not that well developed.
e. This sector remains highly fragmented, small-scale catering to local markets, and labor-intensive.
f. Stiff competition from the power loom and the mill sector.
g. Inadequate supply of raw materials and other inputs.
h. Lack of adequate markets for the weavers.
i. Insufficient credit flow to the weavers.
j. Competition from the synthetic fiber industry.
