Question

In this chapter it is explained that we are actually not touching anything only the atoms start repeling each other. So why do we feel that the object is hot or cold?

To your astonishment, nothing like hot exist when it comes down to microscopic level. Oh! That doesn't means your whole life was a lie.

Let me explain. When I talk about terminologies like heat, it is a property associated with the bulk system.Heat is actually a measure of average kinetic energy of molecules in an object. When we touch an hot object this kinetic energy is tranferred to the atoms of our hand.Our brain senes this kinetic energy makes us feel hot. Similarly the molecules of a cold object will have only less kinetic energy,so our brain makes us feel cold
