Solution

Given that:
In ABC,A=90,ADBC,B=45,AB=x
To find:
AD=?
Solution:
If B=45 then C=45
or, AB=AC=x units
A(ABC)=12×AB×AC
=12×x×x
=x22 sq. units. .................(i)
BC=x2+x2=2x units.
A(ABC)=12×AD×BC
=12×AD×2x sq. units. .................(ii)
From eqn. (i) and (ii) we get,
x22=12×AD×2x
or, AD=x2 units.
