AB2=BD2+AD2 ________ (1)
In ΔACD, similarly
AC2=AD2+DC2 _________ (2)
In ΔABC, similarly,
BC2=AB2+AC2 ________ (3)
Adding (1) and (2)
AB2+AC2=BD2+2AD2+CD2
BC2=BD2+2AD2+CD2 ------- (from (3))
(BD+DC)2=BD2+2AD2+CD2
BD2+2BD+DC.DC2=BD2+2AD2+CD2
BD.CD=AD2
Hence, BD.CD=AD2
