Sexual reproduction in Ulothrix consists simply of fusion of two similar biflagellate gametes. As these fuse in pairs and the zygotes that develop are quadri-flagellate (four flagella). However, after fusion the movement of zygote does not continue for long and soon the flagella are retracted.
