Dear student,
Red soil develops on crystalline igneous rocks where rainfall intensity is much less than in other areas. This soil is mostly infertile and is found in states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and the piedmont zone of the Western Ghats, southern parts of the middle Ganga plain in India. Though it is infertile, it can become fertile if irrigation facilities are enhanced in that region and some food crops like wheat, oilseeds, rice, beans can be grown.
