In what ways can a motor be made more powerful?
By using a soft iron core.
By increasing the number of turns in the coil.
By increasing the strength of the current in the motor
An electric motor utilizes the magnetic effect of current. It works on the principle that when a rectangular coil is placed in a magnetic field and current is passed through it, a force acts on the coil which rotates it continuously. The strength of a motor can be increased by:
1. using a soft iron core. The soft iron core becomes magnetized and increases the strength of the magnetic field. This makes the motor more powerful.
2. increasing number of turns of the insulated copper wire.
3. by increasing the strength of the current in the motor.
All these features together help in increasing the power of motors.
