Solution:
Precipitation refers to all forms of water that fall from clouds and reaches the earth’s surface. For the occurrence of precipitation, cloud droplets or ice crystals must grow heavy enough to fall through the air.

The three forms of precipitation are:

  • Hailstone
    • Rainfall is the most common form of precipitation. It is the form of precipitation in the form of water droplets. The size of the water drops is larger than 0.5 mm.
    • Snowfall consists of snow in the form of tiny crystals of ice formed due to the lowering of temperature. Snow is found in the mountainous and Polar regions.
    • Hailstone is a round pallet of ice larger than 5 mm in diameter.
