  • Alexander Graham Bell had conducted path breaking work in the fields of aeronautics, hydrofoils and optical telecommunications.
  • In January 1915, Bell made the first ceremonial transcontinental telephone call. The call was made from New York city (AT&T headquarters) to San Francisco.
