Analog signal

  1. Analog signals are continuous signals that reflect a single quantity that varies with respect to time.
  2. The graph of an analog signal is in the form of sine waves.
  3. They can take on any value across a continuous range of voltage, current, or another metric, i.e. An analog signal can have an infinite number of values.
  4. Any waveform that is continuous in both time and amplitude is an analog waveform, while an analog waveform that happens to convey information is an analog signal.
  5. They have a value that changes steadily over time and can have any one of an infinite set of values in a range.
  6. Example: The telephone transmitter converts the sound into an electrical voltage signal. The intensity of the voice causes electric current variations. Therefore an analogous is hence the name analog.

Hence, in an analog signal, the amplitude of the signal varies continuously with time.
