In Gynandropsis pentaphylla the gynandrophore is visible. Gynandrophore, an elongation of the floral axis within the flower below the stamens, so that both andrcecium and gyncecium are carried upon a stalk. This structure is but rarely developed and gives the name Gynandropsis to this genus, allied to the capers, in which it does occur. This annual plant (weed) commonly on cultivated land is met with in the warm parts of India. This plant much resembles in odour of asafoetida, but comparatively delicate, and the small kidney-shaped black seeds resemble that of Cleome viscosa.
