  • These flowers show lever mechanism in which the corolla has a spreading upper lip. and a lower lip. These flowers have long bifurcated connectives.
  • When the insects land on the lower lip of the corolla to obtain the nectar it pushes the sterile lobes of the stamen inwards.
  • Hence the anther lobes come down and shed the pollen on the back of the insect. This results in its pollination.
