Multiple fission is the division of the nucleus at the same time into a number of daughter cell, followed by division of the cell body into an equal number of parts. Each containing a nucleus. In binary fission, the nucleus divides into two parts which are followed by the division of the cell body into two equal sized daughter cells. In both these modes of asexual reproduction, all the cells formed after division are referred to as progeny as the parent cell cannot be differentiated from the daughter cells. Therefore, in these modes of reproduction parental identity is lost.
