In which of the following stages of power distribution a step-down transformer is used?
Domestic distribution
A step-down transformer is used to decrease the incoming voltage keeping the power constant. Voltage levels are reduced by transformers for safer operation. It is usually used at the end of the power transmission, i.e at the domestic distribution stage.
A step-up transformer is used at the earliest stage, before transmitting to distant places in order to reduce the loss caused due to increased current.
