In which of the following types of reproduction, is the parental identity lost?
Both B and C
Multiple fission is the division of the nucleus simultaneously into a number of daughter nuclei, followed by division of the cell body into equal number of parts, each containing a nucleus. In binary fission the nucleus divides into two nuclei which is followed by the division of the cell body into two equal sized daughter cells. In both these modes of asexual reproduction, all the cells formed after division are referred to as progeny as the parent cell cannot be differentiated from the daughter cells. Therefore in these modes of reproduction, parental identity is lost.
