Solid- They have tightly packed particles due to the high intermolecular force of attraction. This also results in the particles having vibrational energy only, as there is very less interparticle space between the particles.
Liquid- The particles are loosely packed due to weaker intermolecular forces. Due to this, the particles have more space to flow, having greater kinetic energy.
Gas- The particles are very loosely packed due to the weakest intermolecular force of interaction between them. The particles can also move randomly and freely because of their large intermolecular space resulting in the highest kinetic energy.
Physical states of water:
At 100 ̊C - At this temperature water exits in the gaseous state due to increased temperature, the particles gain more kinetic energy resulting in the attainment of this state.
At 0 ̊C- At this temperature water exits in the solid-state, because, the particles lose their kinetic energy which results in its solidification.
