In monocot (maize) stems vascular cambium is absent. Thus they do not show secondary growth. In monocots vascular bundles are scattered throughout the ground tissue. They are similar in size. These are more in number towards the periphery than towards the centre.

Each vascular bundle is surrounded by a sheath made up of sclerenchymatous tissue called as bundle sheath. The vascular bundles are conjoint and collateral. Xylem shows endarch condition.

Ficus, gram and sunflower are dicots. In dicots vascular bundles are arranged in a ring and definite in number and are conjoint, collateral, open type. Xylem shows endarch condition.
