In which zone of the root, the root hairs are present?

Root

The roots are the branched parts at the end of the plant. They fix the plant in soil (anchorage).

They help plants to absorb water and minerals.

Root consist of four parts:

  1. Root cap: Protects the root and secrete mucilage which lubricates the root.
  2. Region of meristematic activity: Apical meristem is present and increases the length of the root.
  3. Region of elongation: The newly-formed cells increase in length, thereby lengthening the root.
  4. Region of maturation: Bears unicellular root hairs. Root hairs increase the surface area and helps in the absorption of water.

So, In Region of maturation (cell maturation) root hairs are present.
