Solution

The correct option is C 2I0
The phase difference is given by,
ϕ=2πλΔx=2πλ×3λ4=3π2

The resultant intensity of interference of light waves from two coherent sources, having phase difference ϕ, is given by,
IR=I1+I2+2I1I2 cosϕ

As, ϕ=3π2 and cosϕ=0

IR=I0+I0=2I0

Hence, (C) is the correct answer.
Why this question?For better understanding of relation between phase difference and path difference during interference of light waves.
