Increasing Rs $40$ in the ratio $5.4$ implies that the ratio of the new quantity to the old quantity is $5 : 4$ .
$∴$ Let the increased quantity be x
$∴ \frac{New amount}{original amount} = \frac{x}{40} = \frac{5}{4}$
