There are three main cropping seasons in India – Kharif, Rabi, and Zaid.
Kharif Crops
From July to October,
Monsoon Crops are harvested from September to October.
Rice, sorghum, maize, tea, rubber, coffee, guar, Sesame, cereals like Arhar Dhal, pearl millet, soybeans, cotton, oilseeds, and such crops that need a lot of water.
Rabi Crops
Sowing season is from October to November.
Harvest season is from February to April, also known as winter crops
Cold weather is required for progress.
Less water is needed.
Wheat, oats, barley, pulses, cereals, oilseeds, linseed, and other grains are examples.
Zaid Crops
March to June is the best time to sowing which is between Kharif and Rabi
For growth and flowering, it requires warm, dry weather with longer days.
