India need to score 100 runs in 8 balls to win Harsha Bhogle's comments, "It s an impossible event that India wins”. Comment on the validity of his statement.
False
An impossible event is defined as an event whose probability is zero. Let us look at the sample space of scores that India can score in 8 balls. Since there can be 'no balls' and wide balls, it's actually 'possible' to score any runs without even balling a legitimate delivery.
But India can't score more if they cross 99 once. At 99, India can hit a six and the maximum score would be 105. If it is a 'no ball' or wide at 99, the score will became 100 and anything after that does not count. But we can see that the sample space definitely contains numbers more than 99, which means the number of outcomes associated with the event "India wins” is not zero. Hence it is not an impossible event.
