Australia is vulnerable to cyclones as the northern part of Australia lies in the tropical region. During the present decade, there have several cyclones in Australia. Some of the major ones were Yasi (2010-11), Lua (2011-12), Narelle (2012-13), Ita (2013-14), Marcia (2014-15) and Stan (2015-16). These cyclones have caused billions of dollars worth of damages. The loss of life is usually very limited as Australia, being a developed economy, has very strong safety measures to control the damage from cyclones.
