Information can be transmitted by a particle when:
The particle moves from one place to another.
The particle vibrating about its fixed position disturbs the particle next to it and so on.
Information can be passed when a particle starts at a point and reaches the destination.
Information can also be passed, when the particles don't move from one place to another. Instead, they just vibrate about their mean position, causing the particles next to them to vibrate. This passing on of information from one particle to another, without the particle actually getting displaced, is generally referred to as a wave.
