Solution

The correct option is D Antibody production

Innate immunity is the type of immunity that an organism always has from the time of its birth. They inherit this property of immunity from their parents which protects them throughout life. Innate immunity includes many components which maybe anatomical, physiological, cellular or inflammatory barriers.

  • Skin and mucous membrane are the first line of defence which are anatomical structures present in the human body. They function by becoming a physical barrier to the body or internally they trap the microorganism and immobilize them.
  • The white blood cells (leucocytes) and lymphocytes are capable of squeezing out of the blood capillaries; also they are phagocytic in nature. Phagocytosis is the process by which any living cells engulf other cells or particles.
  • Inflammatory responses are a type of immunity produced by the body in which plasma gets accumulated at the site of infection thus diluting the toxins released by infected organisms and decreasing their effectiveness.

Antibody production is a response of acquired immunity because antibody production in an individual body happens only when the body is exposed to disease causing antigens.
