Inner part of a cupboard is in the cuboidical shape with its length, breadth and height in the ratio 1:2:1. What is the angle made by the longest stick which can be inserted cupboard with its base inside.

Length: Breadth:Height =1:2:1

length =x=BC

Breadth=2x=AB

Height =x=AE

Longest stick in the cupboard is shown as EC

In ΔABC,

Applying Pythagoras theorem,

AC2=AB2+BC2
AC2=(2x)2+x2
2x2+x2=3x2
AC=3x

In ΔACE,

tanθ=AEAC=x3x=13
θ=30°
