If $\frac{a}{b}$ and $\frac{c}{d}$ are two fractions, then $\frac{a+c}{b+d}$ is a fraction that lies between them.

By using above property, fraction between $\frac{5}{9}$and $\frac{1}{4}$ is,

$\frac{5+1}{9+4}=\frac{6}{13}$

fraction between $\frac{1}{4}$ and $\frac{6}{13}$ is,

$\frac{1+6}{4+13}=\frac{7}{17}$

Hence, $\frac{6}{13}$ and $\frac{7}{17}$ are the two fractions between $\frac{5}{9}$ and $\frac{1}{4}$
