Solution
In spite of being close to the Arabian Sea, Rajasthan remains dry because of the following reasons:
(1) After moving from Gujarat and Sind delta moisture content of the Arabian sea branch of Monsoon is decreased when it comes towards the Rajasthan so Thar desert remains dry.
(2) Sandy soil of desert region creates a situation of temperature inversion so monsoon winds cannot enter in this area.
(3) Aravali mountains are parallel to these winds.
