Question

Integrate the rational function 2xx2+3x+2

Open in App
Solution

Let 2xx2+3x+2=A(x+1)+B(x+2)
2x=A(x+2)+B(x+1) ............. (1)
Substituting x=1 and 2 in equation (1), we obtain
A=2 and B=4
2x(x+1)(x+2)=2(x+1)+4(x+2)
2x(x+1)(x+2)dx={4(x+2)2(x+1)}dx
=4log|x+2|2log|x+1|+C
