Water is in the liquid state at normal room temperature. If water is heated at 100C it starts boiling and beyond this temperature, it turns into a gaseous form (steam). Water also changes to solid state (ice) at 0C. Ice, water and steam are different physical states of water. Chemically, these three substances are identical. Hence the above statement is incorrect.
